ZRC WORLDWIDE ACQUIRES
SPECIALTIES ENGINEERING CORPORATION (SPECO)
Marshfield, Massachusetts: ZRC Worldwide, Marshfield, Mass., a leading manufacturer of corrosion protection coatings, has acquired the assets, technologies and trademarks of Specialties Engineering Corporation (SPECO) of San Diego, California, a maker of corrosion coatings for power generation, marine, water treatment and air conditioning applications. The company will be renamed SPECO International, LLC, and will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of ZRC Worldwide. SPECO International operations and manufacturing will be relocated to ZRC Worldwide’s headquarters in Massachusetts. No purchase price was disclosed.
The acquisition of SPECO was announced by Matthew R. Steele, president of ZRC Worldwide. ZRC purchased SPECO from John "Jack" Monday, who has owned the company since 1975. Steven P. Collins, vice president of ZRC, will serve as president of SPECO International.
Founded in 1952, SPECO’s product line includes Speflex™ and Speclad™ epoxy corrosion coating systems, and Specoat™ Tube Coating for tube end applications in electrical power generation facilities. The company has thousands of applications in place in power generation facilities around the world.
